What are charity beers?
Beers that give back. Here at Burnside, we recognise there are a lot of good causes and charities out there, and it can be tough to choose. We support different causes throughout the year, and generally we like to support groups that have some connection to nature and/or an active lifestyle. We also donate raffle prizes to select local charitable causes.
These beers are available under single flavour cases on our online shop, either under mixed cases or single flavour cases. See below for our past and current charity flavours:
Thirst Aid - West Coast IPA - 4.2%
Did you know that mountain rescue is run by volunteers? And that they are on call 24/7, 365? Mountain rescue helps walkers, mountain bikers, skiers, and anyone lost or injured in the hills. We love the beauty of the Scottish hills, and hope you do to. The pine and cedar hop profile of Thirst Aid is reflective of the mountains, and 50p from every bottle goes to Aberdeen Mountain Rescue Team (AMRT). Thirst Aid - to the rescue!
Macbeth - Pale Ale - 4.1%
A brewing collaboration between Burnside Brewery, Deeside Brewery and Strong Water Co to support the River Dee Trust. Rising temperatures are endangering the River Dee. The wild salmon are already in crisis and other species, such as freshwater pearl mussels, could face local extinction. With each bottle sold, 50p will go to the River Dee Trust to support the planting of one million trees over the next 15 years. These trees will encourage healthy salmon stock and wildlife, by preventing high river temperatures and providing food and shelter.
CLANify - Saison - 4.0% - Sold Out
Raising 50p for every bottle sold for CLAN cancer support, helping people live with or beyond their or their loved one's cancer diagnosis across the North East of Scotland. CLAN provides support through community centres and outreach facilities free of charge. With one of our team members, Margo, having a background in cancer healthcare, this is a cause that's close to our hearts. CLAN also has a number of fundraising events that you can get involved with - each participant at the 2022 Golf Days will get a Burnside Beer and there will be Burnside prizes at the CLAN Ball.
Summit Finish - Tropical Blonde - 4.2% - Sold Out
Named by the C2C cycling charity, Summit Finish is a lovely beer you'll feel great about drinking. £1 from every bottle goes to support the Coast 2 Coast cycling charity's nominated causes. This year, the 6 Scottish based charities are:
- Kiran’s trust - financial support and mentoring to young people
- Friends of Roxburghe house - palliative care in Aberdeen
- Befriend a Child - support local children who are growing up in the most difficult life circumstances
- Caithness Community Laurandary - care for the elderly, suffering with Dementia
